Whole-Wheat Sandwich Buns


2 c. Water (warm)
1/2 c. Honey
2 t. Salt
1/2 c. Canola oil
1/2 c Applesauce
1/2 c. Oats (cooked)
4 c. Whole-Wheat flour
2 T. Gluten flour
2 T. Yeast


In large bowl, combine water, honey, salt, oil, applesauce, oats. Add 2 c. whole-wheat flour, gluten flour, yeast. Mix together. Add rest of flour until dough is soft. Pour onto flat surface; knead for approximately ten minutes. Use additional flour as needed to keep dough from sticking to hands. Spray large bowl with non-stick vegetable cooking spray; place dough in bowl; cover with clean towel. Let rise until double the size. Bake at 350 deg. F. 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool; slice in half; add sandwich filling of your choice.

Yields: 20 3-inch buns.
